Lily Trees, or Orienpet lilies, are tall, thick-stalked lilies bred from Oriental lilies for their colours and large, beautiful flowers. Despite their name, lily trees are not actually trees at all. Instead, they're a unique hybrid of trumpet lilies and Oriental lilies-and they offer the best of both worlds.

Do lily trees multiply?

Lilies spread as the bulbs grow bigger and more mature. Lilies also multiply as little bulblets form on the mother bulb or as bulbils form on the stem or leaf axils.

Do lily trees need full sun?

Lilies need lots of sun. For dependable blooms, lilies should get 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight a day (aka “full sun”). If it's too shady, the stems will attempt to lean towards the sun or get spindly and fall over. Select a planting site with soil that drains well.

Small offsets can take 2 to 4 years to flower, but larger ones can bloom in 1 to 2 years. Bulblets will be identical in type to the parent plant, making this a viable method for both hybrid cultivars and species plants. Lift mature bulbs from the ground and detach offsets from the bulb or stem.
